Winners of the Manchester Tourism Awards 2004!!!
The Hatters Hostel Manchester were thrilled to be awarded the Outstanding Customer Care award at the Manchester Tourism Awards 2004. The award recognises the commitment and hard work of all the team in The Hatters over the last year (our first) in our never ending pursuit to exceed our guests’ expectations.
This award will encourage us to continue to do what we can to impress and satisfy any person who comes to stay with us in Manchester. Nice one Liane!
The awards, featuring ten categories ranging from Large Hotel of the Year through to Tourist Information Centre of the Year, recognise levels of investment in quality and outstanding contributions to tourism.
The awards were organised by Marketing Manchester with the support of the Northwest Regional Development Agency (NWDA).
Winners of the awards will automatically be entered as entrants to the Northwest Regional Awards, to be held in October this year. The winners of the Regional Awards will, in turn, be entered for the national Enjoy England Excellence Awards.
Liane had to beat off stiff competition from high quality entries. A panel of expert judges in their particular field chose the winners from a final shortlist, helped by the work of a mystery shopper. Outstanding customer service, accessibility for disabled guests and commitment to sustainability are just some of the qualities demonstrated by the winners.
Winners range from a small, privately owned hotel near Manchester airport to a city council website. The ‘Large Visitor Attraction of the Year’ title goes to Manchester Art Gallery, home to the city’s world-renowned art collection, whilst the ‘Small Visitor Attraction of the Year’ is the UK's first and only museum dedicated to the exciting world of hats and hat making, Hat Works.
2004 saw the introduction of two new categories created specially for the Manchester Awards – the Best Manchester Event, won by Manchester EuroPride 2003 and an Outstanding Customer service Award, won by Liane Rose, of budget accommodation provider, The Hatters.
Manchester will celebrate the best of the city-region’s growing tourism and leisure industry in style when it presents the winners with their accolades at a special luncheon to be held on 1st October at Stock restaurant.
Andrew Stokes, Chief Executive, Marketing Manchester, said:
“We are delighted to be delivering an initiative which recognises excellence and outstanding achievement in tourism. Manchester has an exceptional tourism product, which made the judging process very difficult. We hope that the winners will go forward and be successful at both the Regional and National levels.”
Peter Mearns, Director of Marketing, NWDA, said:
“Manchester is fast becoming one of the best weekend breaks in Europe and boasts some wonderful tourist attractions and superb visitor facilities which people travel the world to see. I am delighted with the quality of entries we have received and wish them the very best of luck with the regional awards next month.”
